LOCAL PROJECTS
We are involved in several local agricultural projects. In these projects, we are committed to high- quality, certified organic products and a high quality of life for farmers.
Our commitment to farmers and producers in the country of origin is best expressed in our long-term relationships with our agricultural partners. Our partners range from companies that unite rice paddy farmers in Thailand and India to support them through socioeconomic projects, to a farmer (and former colleague of MBTW) in Canada. All wonderful stories of people and companies who share the same aspiration to make organic the standard and the world a little better. Together for our planet.
SESAME FROM UGANDA
We are part of a social project in northern Uganda. Building inclusive value chains for organic sesame, soy and shea. The goal of the project is to register, train and certify 25,000 smallholder farmers so they can increase their yields and income.
JASMINE RICE FROM CAMBODIA
We are part of a project in Cambodia that uses blockchain to improve the income of organic jasmine rice farmers. We are creating a fair and transparent supply chain that strengthens the position of farmers in the supply chain in Cambodia.
SUGAR CANE FROM MOZAMBIQUE
Our partner in Mozambique includes more than 500 smallholder families united in two cooperatives. They set the highest possible standards for organic sugarcane production, but also for impact on local communities, biodiversity and carbon emissions.
CASHEW NUTS FROM TANZANIA
Our cashew nuts from Tanzania are harvested and cracked on site. This is special because cashews in shell from Tanzania are usually shipped to Asia for further processing. Our local sourcing partner has found a way to do it differently.
LENTILS FROM CANADA
One of our dedicated account managers, James, once dreamed of a farm in North America where the fields are endless and have no horizon. Today, his farm is proud to be a partner with MBTW, and not just for this one farm. "With a group of about 10 organic farms, we supply MBTW with organic black lentils and organic French green lentils.
TRADITIONAL ORGANIC PRODUCTS FROM CHINA
In 2014, MBTW began a partnership with Huaen, and today we import many organic products from China. Today the project is well developed according to European standards. There is recycled compost from livestock waste and crop surplus. Organic farms have developed natural methods of pest control, such as "Red Eye Bees", and each field is marked with an organic sign and field number.
BASMATI RICE FROM INDIA
We have been working with a local Indian office for more than 9 years. As part of the project, there are initiatives to improve living conditions through education for the children, better sanitation and work for women to make them more independent. These include, for example, the donation of sewing machines for clothing and embroidery, as well as workshops on how to start your own business.
